Clients increasingly ask whether AI-assisted work is disclosed, how it is supervised, and whether outputs remain confidential under the same terms as human work. Agencies that answer vaguely invite scope creep: “we used AI” without defining review steps or liability limits. Stronger contracts name the categories of AI use (research, drafting, classification), the human review gates, and the artifacts that must never be generated without sign-off. When a vendor’s product blurs those lines—auto-summaries that pull from the wrong thread, copilots that suggest language from another workspace—your MSA needs to point to operational controls, not marketing language. Pair procurement questions with your legal template so you are not improvising in front of a client’s security team.

Bench depth and the “bus factor” on prompts

Boutique shops run hot when one senior operator holds the working knowledge of integrations and prompt libraries. AI accelerates that concentration because the fastest path is often “ask Alex.” Institutionalize the opposite: shared prompt libraries with version history, named owners for each client workspace, and a weekly rotation where someone who did not build the workflow must run the evaluation set. Pricing AI into engagements without racing to the bottom

Competitors will undercut you by claiming “AI efficiency” without defining quality. Your pricing story should separate throughput from risk reduction: fewer review cycles because of better guardrails, faster delivery because of reusable templates—not because you silently removed human review. When you model margins, include fair-use and token economics so usage spikes do not erase your fee. If a client wants unlimited generation at a fixed price, the honest answer is often a different SOW structure or a capped scope with explicit overage mechanics.
